He fell in love with cinema and decided to become a Cinematographer after seeing Hitchcock’s Vertigo aged 12 at The Phoenix Cinema in London, the oldest independent cinema in England.

During this time he also amassed a large comic collection, spending hours reading in what was effectively a study of visual storytelling through storyboards.

His creative journey continued as a London Graffiti Artist in the late 1980s where he received recognition as one of the top young artists in the movement exploring colour, contrast and form.

He then studied Film, Video & Photographic Arts at The University of Westminster (formerly PCL) in central London, specialising in Cinematography and graduating in 1996.

He worked his way up the ranks starting as a Camera Trainee then 1stAC on feature films and television commercials in Britain, eventually Operating for Sam McCurdy, BSC and Nic Knowland, BSC. By 2000 Shane was working steadily as a Director of Photography shooting extensively throughout the world.

Both his cine and stills work display a wide range of styles and techniques as he tailors a unique look for the specific requirements of each project.
